Outdoor Wood Products

Outdoor Wood Dining Set Our Ipé furniture is created of FSC 100% solid heartwood Ipe Wood by award winning Italian designers. A clean and contemporary collection of dining and a matching seating and accent pieces are sure to enhance any outdoor space. But because it's wood, you'll have to do some care and maintenance on it to help it last through the years. IPÉ Aftercare Kit Instructions Ipé is naturally a uniform brown color. Keep in mind that the original color of all woods will grey out with time when placed outdoors and exposed to ultra violet rays (UV). This is a function of UV light bleaching the wood over time. If you want to preserve the original color of Ipé, we recommend using the Ipe Aftercare Kit. This 2-step kit contains a packet of Penofin® Pro Tech Brightener and a quart can of Penofin Hardwood Oil Ipe Tone (this is enough finish to cover approximately 100-120 square feet). The kit is intended for furniture that has been slightly greyed out, and will effectively treat the wood surface and restore the original color. Please note: the Ipé Aftercare Kit should only be used after the original finish begins to lighten in color (after approximately 2-3 months of outdoor exposure depending on your local weather conditions). Step 1: Penofin Pro-Tech Brightener Applying Penfofin® Pro-Tech Brightener is an essential treatment to prepare the wooed surface prior to applying the Penofin Hardwood Oil. This treatment prepares the wood surface for better penetration of the Penofin® Hardwood Oil and brings grey weathers wood back to its original color. This product is biodegradable, non-flammable and contains no VOCs. Before using any Penofin® product, eye protection and rubber gloves should be worn. Cover the ground under your work area before starting. Application: Empty the packet of Penofin® Pro-Tech Brightener into one gallon of clean water and mix. Wet the surface with a garden hose sprayer. Using a plastic pump garden sprayer or brush, apply the solution liberally to the wood surface. DO NOT ALLO THE SOLUTION TO DRY ON THE SURFACE. Mist occasionally and agitate with a non-metallic stiff brush for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water. Allow the wood surface to dry completely for 24-48 hours before proceeding to Step 2 - Applying the Penofin® Hardwood Oil. Note: If the wood surface has been exposed to the weather for a prolonged period of time and/or is heavily stained with water spots or food stains, it is recommended that you first clean the surface with Penofin® Pro-Tech Cleaner prior to applying Penofin® Pro-Tech Brightener as recommended in Step 1. Penofin® Pro-Tech Cleaner can be purchased separately from your local Penofin® dealer. ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, EYE PROTECTION AND SOLID SHOES WHEN APPLYING THESE PRODUCTS. SURFACE WILL BE SLIPPERY. DO NOT INHALE POWDER. DO NOT MIX IN A METAL CONTAINER. DO NOT STORE DILLUTED SOLUTION. DO NOT MIX WITH CHOLORINE BLEACH OR OTHER SHEMICALS. HARFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED. CAN CAUSE EYE AND SKIN BURNS. Step 2: Penofin® Hardwood Oil - Ipé Tone Once completely dried, the furniture is now ready to be finished with Penofin® Hardwood Oil. This final step of applying Penofin® Hardwood Oil with return your Ipé to its original brown color. Apply one coat and wait 15-20 minutes, thoroughly wipe the entire surface with a nap-free cloth until the wood feels dry to the touch. Following a minimum of 3 hour drying time, apply a second light coat, wait 15-20 minutes and thoroughly wipe the entire surface with a nap-free cloth until the wood feels dry to the touch. Please notes that any excess oil left on the surface will congeal and result in a tacky finish. Following this treatment, we recommend that Penofin® Hardwood Oil be applied once per season (table tops and other horizontal surfaces may require a second application). Remember that the wood surface needs to be clean and completely dry before applying the Penofin® Hardwood Oil. Depending on weather conditions, a single application of Penofin® Hardwood Oil should be dry to the touch and ready to use within 24-28 hours. Please notes that outdoor cushions should not be in direct contact until the finish has been allowed to completely dry and set (approximately 1-2 weeks depending on local weather conditions) or during wet weather. Call the Penofin Customer Service Line at 1-800-PENOFIN if you have any questions before, during or after application.
